When the drawings don't tell the whole story – first drive system test

After the successful test of the hydraulic system, we took the next step in modernising the heavylifter: the first test of the drive system through our new control system and remote control.

However, the project has not only been about development and programming. One of the biggest challenges has been that existing documentation and drawing material proved to be incomplete. To gain a full understanding of how the system was built, we therefore had to carry out extensive mapping work on the machine itself.

Hydraulic hoses, cables, and components were traced manually through the plant to identify functions, signal paths, and relationships that were not reflected in the documentation. This work gave us the insight needed to develop and verify the new control system.

With the mapping in place, we were able to carry out the first test of the drive system. The system responded as expected, and the test confirmed that signal processing, control logic, and communication work correctly between the control system and the machine.

The project has now passed another important milestone. The experience from the test forms the basis for further optimisation, functional testing, and completion of the solution.
