Merchandising in the App Router: complementary and FBT
Shopify recommendations, multi-line cart, and sticky purchase UX
Online Store ships merchandising. In headless, you build it. For feelme.no we needed complementary products and frequently bought together directly in the App Router, not as a theme plugin.
We wired Shopify product recommendations with COMPLEMENTARY intent, and built an interface that shows relevant add-ons on the product page. Recommendations are managed in Shopify, presentation is owned in Next.js.
Shoppers can add multiple lines to the cart in one operation: main product plus selected add-ons. That reduces friction and turns merchandising into a real purchase flow, not just a list of links.
A sticky buy button on mobile and desktop keeps the action available while the shopper scrolls through recommendations and details. Small UX details, big difference in conversion.
The effect is more relevant upsell and higher average order value, without the store feeling pushy. Merchandising is engineering when the storefront is headless.
